Delphinium exaltatum (Tall larkspur)

Here is a great success story for us, and it is a perennial. Kathi planted this late in the season in 2003 and a critter ate it down to the ground. We thought that it was a goner. Lo and behold, it came back in 2004 and bloomed profusely. We saw a hummingbird at it on July 24, 2004 and the hummers loved this plant. We plan to get more of these and plant a big patch of tall larkspur. We obtained our larkspur from Prairie Moon Nursery. In the background on the left side of the picture is Cup plant and on the right side is a variegated Weigela (the hummers have minimally used the Weigela flowers).
