Tecomaria capensis Cape honeysuckle

capehoneysuckle(26K)

It is amazing what one can find at a big box store. We purchased Cape honeysuckle from Home Depot in 2007 and kept this in a pot on the walkway to our front door. Cape honeysuckle flowered nicely in August and September, and we had hummingbirds at these flowers during the fall migration. It is not surprising that hummingbirds would like this plant, as it is in the family Bignoniaceae (which includes trumpet creeper).
